The LESSON of Bob Basso...

Photo Credit: www.bobbasso.comI have been wondering what happened in the case of Bob Basso who had been personally invited by President Obama
[...] to meet in the White House "to discuss the disturbing nature of the videos."
So, I decided to try and find out what had transpired and what I found is quite interesting.
According to World Net Daily,
The day after the WND report, Basso appeared on the "Jerry Doyle Show" and reported he had been receiving several hundred telephone calls a day. He said he wanted "to make it very clear to all those folks who are saying, 'Please don't be intimidated by our government and stand up and fight.' I guarantee you Mr. Paine and yours truly, Mr. Bob Basso, are not timid souls and will not be intimidated by anyone."
Basso also said he had no intention of "attacking" the president.
He said at that point he was waiting "until we get any kind of response from the White House that this is a valid invitation or its not some kind of a scheme." He promised the Doyle show would be the first group he would contact.
He said he had heard from individuals representing themselves as the president's "spokespeople," or those who "work for his Internet committee."
Basso told the radio program the smart thing is to "wait until the inviter talks to the invitee if in fact that's valid."
Did you catch that? His internet committee? What is their job description? Scanning the internet for people like Bob Basso, or you and me and then "inviting us" to the White House to
discuss the disturbing nature of the videos [or blogs, or journals, or writings, or comments?]
This is nothing more than Chicago style intimidation and thugocracy! However, this isn't Chicago. This is America and this will not work with the American people. All that President Obama and his cabinet will succeed in doing is make the people angrier as well as more determined.
Another interesting item to note came from Jesse Edwards, a Doyle show producer, who said,
[...] it appears that because the "invitation" became public, the White House has let the issue drop. "We went on the air with it. Now he hasn't heard anything,"
In addition, according to Free Republic,
In a statement released by Basso's associate to WND, he said he had not yet been summoned to the White House.
Jesse Edwards, a Doyle show producer, said it appears that because the "invitation" became public, the White House has let the issue drop.
"We went on the air with it. Now he hasn't heard anything," he told WND.
Also, on March 25th, when this all broke, Jerry Doyle
reported on his show that the creator of the viral video in the link above is not appearing on his show due to intervention from the white house and Obama himself.
He has been told not to discuss it on his show but he is going ahead and re-playing the audio in direct defiance of the request from the white house.
Okay, if that isn't significant to you, let me explain what I see. President Obama was willing to use intimidation on a fellow American who was simply excersing his first Amendment rights UNTIL it became PUBLIC. Then all went quiet.
When we soldiers are strategizing how to win a war, we always look for a weakness in the opposition's stategy. I believe we have just found a weakness in how President Obama and his cabinet work. Once their deeds, intimidation tactics, or whatever hit the public airways, they withdraw. Sometimes (probably most) they regroup and other times they just drop it.
THIS is why is it vitally important for each of us to stand up and use the right to protest and the right to speak that was given to us through the blood of our forefathers. It will force what is being done in the dark of our governmetnt out into the light, and when the light hits it, it looses the perceived power it had.
The lesson of Bob Basso is that our government if just as afraid, if not more afraid of the power of the people. America stands alone in the ability of her people to resist, to stand for principle, to speak out and say "no more. We have had enough!"
If you haven't already done so, consider joining a TEA Party in your area. Let's not waste the lesson of Bob Basso.

I believe that if President Obama or someone in his circle requested my presence in Washington, DC I would respectfully decline. The operative word being respectfully.
The internet can be used for whatever purposes including elevating an unknown politician to the presidency. It can also reveal the truth, something that some people are terribly afraid of embracing.
There's another possibility ... Bob Basso might be making this whole thing up for the publicity, and the Right, desperate to hit Obama with something else, will latch onto ANYTHING else.
Thus far, I've seen nothing to support his claims except him talking a lot. When I see him refer to Obama's internet committee, I hear the same language I read in chain e-mails all the time about how GWB was going to establish martial law.
There is a huge amount of anti-Obama hysteria, which dilutes the effectiveness of legitimate opposition. I'm afraid that the Right has been teaming up with 9-11 Truthers, militia types, and so on. Frankly, I smell a hoax more than a grand conspiracy.
The Obama administration and campaign are nothing if not media savvy (and, granted, not much more than that). They're not going to make themselves vulnerable to some You Tube motivational speaker. Basso simply isn't worth the attention that he's supposedly getting.
As of right now, his video "The Second American Revolution" has been viewed fewer than 3 million times in 8 months. Why would that warrant the President's personal attention/invitation, at the risk of this kind of exposure?
Matt - well said!
Wickle - I will have to respectfully agree to disagree. While you are right that this may indeed be a hoax, I am willing to believe Mr. Basso. Nothing in his repertoire indicates that he would do this.
Having said that, I believe the Obama administration is more than capable of doing this type of thing. If he is willing to tell a fellow politician that "he keeps score" than this is not a far stretch.
As always, Wickle, I love you challenging me! That is what is so great about America.
With all of the accusations flying this way and that, it's hard to know what to believe. I have to agree with Matt on this one. If for some unfathomable reason, I was invited to the White House to discuss my opposition to President Obama, I would have to refuse. I can't see a conversation between the President and myself being very productive. I would probably be my normal diplomatic self and get into more trouble than I could possibly get out of.
Larry - LOL! That was good! I actually can't see you getting into trouble. You strike me as someone who would charm anyone - a real life Will Rogers!
I think I would take my lawyer with me and do the meeting, but that's just me.
Ahh, Dominique, you don't know the real me. I can get fairly stirred up about some things and if I was confronted by someone like Obama face to face, it might not go so well.
Larry - how do you know so quickly when I respond to your comments. You are so fast! BTW, I just added a link to the article. My post was posted to Patriots for America and it is getting a lot of comments there. I thought you might like to add your two cents.
As for not knowing you...well....do we ever REALLY know someone? That's was so great about relationships!
I would love to be a fly on the wall if that ever took place! LOL
I have the comments from your blog on my RSS reader, so it's easy to know when anyone comments.
Actually, I have always wanted to be able to have a conversation with someone like Bill Clinton or one of the Bradys, who are so strongly for more and more gun control. I would like to be able to sit down one on one and have them try to explain how restricting my 2nd Amendment rights is going to help keep guns out of the hands of criminals. That argument has always struck me as being very naive and I do not think there is a thing they could say that would change my mind.
The same goes for President Obama or any of his crew. I honestly do not believe they could explain the things they are doing to our country if we were to sit down face to face. I would probably be so frustrated at them for trying that it wouldn't turn out well; probably with me just throwing up my hands in disgust and walking away.
The link you posted to the Patriots for America discussion doesn't seem to be working.
Larry - thanks for letting me know about the link. I meant to go back and fix that. It appears to be working now.
I love you question about gun control. That has always been my point. If it is to "protect the citizenry" then why do the criminals still have guns. Senseless.
I think part of the technique of a liberal is to talk in circles and get you frustrated out of your mind.
Forgive me for joining this conversation so late, but here's my two pennies: I really like the videos you allude to. They are well done, and certainly contain language we can understand.
As much as it bothered me to do so, I had to reply to an e-mail from a friend who sent it to me without checking its source. So many people blindly forward e-mails thinking the content is genuine; oh, it sounds good and the intentions are honorable for the most part.
There's enough legitimate information on the president until we don't need to make anything up; he's fully capable of blundering his presidency as has already been witnessed by the entire world.
To sum things up: I do not discount Mr. Obama's involvement in calling Mr. Basso to the White House. If it wasn't the president, then perhaps it the people who are really in control who sent the invite. I can't prove it, but would very much like to see documentation verifying the invitation.
Pastor Ron - I agree although I'm not sure that will happen now.
However, I still think that the gist of my article is still on target. President Obama has repeatedly pulled back when his words/ or actions are brought to light.
So, I really believe that by keeping as much of what is transpiring in the light, we can then keep pressure on him and his cabinet.
BTW - You never have to apologize for "being late" in responding to an article. There are no deadlines here so speak to your hearts content. Your perspective is highly respected and appreciated.
